They have advantages over large international conglomerates precisely because they are small. They can react very quickly to changes n their marketplace, their workforce is likely to be far more flexible and the relationships between workers and management are probably close. These small businesses can also make a profit from restricted gaps in their niche where a large company would find it difficult to adjust either as quickly or as profitably. People in small businesses are used to innovating and solving day to day problems and this obviously makes them more adaptable.
